My concoction
I used to be addicted to Pepsi cola & I knew years ago the corrosive affects of the stuff. I'll never forget when I was about 14 or 15 years old, my best friends father poured some Pepsi or Coca-Cola (honestly I can't remember which one it was) into a cup and put some rusty nails in the cup...he said "this is the best rust remover ever!" Well, sure enough the next day we looked into the cup and my girlfriend and I looked at each other with amazement. All the rust was gone & he had the shiniest nails you could imagine. Well, at that time I never thought about it again, until I was in dental school. We were discussing the effects that acids had on tooth enamel & sure enough the popular beverage came up again...but, so did the effects that lemons had on tooth enamel. Both are bad...especially if you suck on lemons or sip soda's all day. There are so many beneficial sides to the lemon vs. the cola as far a nutrients go...but you still need to be cautious. Make sure you dilute the lemon and rinse after you have your lemon water....your probably much better off than drinking lemon water because there is no nutritional value in cola...not any day of the week!
I add some Stevia to my lemon water to sweeten, but you definitely don't have to do that! It tastes like "lemonade" ...yum. You can use less and less stevia and you might start to change your mind and no longer drink soda. Now, the only time I drink cola is when I go to the movies & order popcorn!
As I have researched more and more, I think I will stick to lemon water over cola....but choose for yourself!
Here is an article discussing lemon water-you decide lemon water or cola!
